Meet Deva Simmons
“Rebuilding Trust. Restoring Hope. Reinforcing Democracy.”
A native of Brooklyn, NY, Deva relocated to Florida in 1995 and has proudly called Polk County home since 2002. With over 20 years in education, she has dedicated her life to empowering students and families.

My Story
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, I learned early the value of community, hard work, and standing up for what's right. My parents instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility to serve others and to never forget where I came from.
In 1995, I made Florida my home, and since 2002, Polk County has been where I've built my life, my career, and my community connections. Over the past two decades, I've dedicated myself to education—teaching, mentoring, and advocating for students and families who need a voice.
My journey has taken me from the classroom to community boardrooms, where I've served on the Board of the Boys & Girls Club of Lakeland, sponsored the AGB Museum of Art, and volunteered countless hours with kidsPACK, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, and Polk County Schools.
Now, I'm stepping up to serve on an even greater level. As your candidate for U.S. Congress, District 18, I'm committed to bringing the same dedication, compassion, and tireless work ethic that has defined my career in education to the halls of Congress.
A Heart for People and a Voice for Change.
